Full Moon Walk !
The next Full Moon Walk will take place in Glendalough Co Wicklow Friday Feb 10th.Meet:We will meet at the Glendalough Hotel Lounge at 7pm. |
Bus @5:45pm from Dublin Tourism Office Suffolk St €10 return. Back to Dublin Approx 11:00pm. Please confirm by email if you need the bus. |
These Full Moon Walks are an excellent opportunity to see beautiful landscape by the light of the moon.The walks will be short 2-3 hr walks starting at 6pm in the evening during the Autuwm / Winter months.
You will visit some of the most scenic parts of Wicklow and Dublin, places such as Glendalough, Luggala, Djouce and many more. If you have never had the opportunity to do some night walking then don't miss this as it's an altogether different experience.
About the walk : The walk will take us from the Glendalough Hotel on part of St kevins Way along by the Glendassan river and onto the side of Camaderry from here we will follow a forest track down towards the upper lake. We will then continue on by Reefert church (The King's Cemetry) and along the side of Derry Bawn (The White Oak) following a trail overlooking the monastic site and excellent views along the whole valley.
N.B. Another walk may be chosen on the night weather dependent but will be of the same length and time.
The walk will take approx 2.5 hrs/
No previous walking experience required.
After the walk we can head back to Glendalough Hotel to catch up and enjoy a drink.
The Guides:
All the guides on theses walks are fully qualified and trained with REC3 1st Aid and Bos Recognised awards, so you are in safe hands.
You may also learn some night navigation, gain some knowledge of the stars and you could even experience a night time rainbow.

You Could stay at theTrooperstown Lodge Laragh, with the choice of B+B or Apartment accommodation, central to the walk.

What to bring for the walk.
- Walking boots
- Water
- Head torch or handheld.
- Warm top, gloves, hat.
- Waterproofs (just in case)
- Packed lunch, hot drink.
- Back pack with spare warm top and socks in.
How do I get there ?
If your coming from Dublin on the M50 and the N11 take the turn of for Roundwood Glendalough. Follow this road through Roundwood and Annamoe until you reach Laragh. Glendalough is straight ahead and the Glendalough Hotel is on your right. Allow 1.5 hrs travel from Dublin due to tractors and stuff..
