Guided walk and evening meal for singles in Co. Wicklow.
Sat 11th Feb 2012
Walking is a fantastic way to meet people in a more relaxed and enjoyable environment. We are delighted to be able to invite you along for another guided walk in the stunning Glendalough region of the Wicklow Mountains National Park followed by dinner in the highly-recommended Wicklow Heather Restaurant.
- Guided walk with qualified guide
- Evening Meal in the Wicklow Heather Restaurant.
We will walk along an old road up the Upper Lake passing the Monastic site, which we will stop and visit. The walk then takes us through an old oak forest along the bottom right-hand side of the lake. From here we will pass by St' Kevin's Cell and Reefert church ("Ri fearta" or the King’s Cemetery and sacred Gaelic Chieftain burial grounds) and follow the trail along through the woods. We will then leave the trail and go into the trees to come out on top of one the most incredible views above the Upper Lake - a definite photo opportunity. We will then follow a board walk up towards the Gleneola River and bridge where we will stop for some lunch. From here we will take the path passing an old mining village and through a forest of old Scot pines. We will follow the trail along the side of the upper lake and through the heart of Glendalough valley back to where we started.
The walk will last approximately 3 -4 hours and will be taken at a very easy pace with an optional easier walk also.
There are plenty of stops and photo opportunities along the way.
No previous walking experience required.

Allow yourself an hours travel from Dublin.
Accessing the M50 (the ring road around Dublin) at any point, take it southbound to its end where it merges with the M11. Continue southbound on the M11/N11 to its junction with the R755 at Kilmacanogue, just south of Bray. The exit off the N11 is signposted for Glendalough. Continue along the R755 for approximately 30 mins, passing through the villages of Roundwood and Annamoe. At Laragh take the R756 in the direction of Glendalough. After approx. 200m you will see The Wicklow Heather Restaurant on your left. Continue on the R756 for about 500m and take a left at the T-junction. The hotel will be on your left.
