1st Aug 09 - Shilleagh to Tinahealy on the Wicklow Way.
Walking is a fantastic way to meet people in a more relaxed and enjoyable environment. We are delighted to be able to invite you along for another guided walk in the stunning surroundings of South Wicklow, followed by dinner in the highly-recommended Wild Honey Restaurant in Tinahealy
Tinahely —County Wicklow
A market town in the valley of the Derry River, the town was destroyed in the 1798 rebellion, but was later rebuilt in the early 1800's by the Earl Fitzwilliam. The old Courthouse occupies the centre of the square - and is now a centre for the promotion of arts & culture: hosting exhibitions, lectures, concerts etc throughout the year. There are fine restaurants and pubs in the town for one to enjoy 'the craic' - especially for those visitors who may be weary after their walk on the Wicklow Way.
Tickets cost €65
- Guided walk with qualified guide
- Lunch for walk
- Evening Meal in the "Wild Honey Restaurant" Tinahealy.
The walk
We will take the Wicklow way trail just outside of Shilleagh and follow it along some small old path ways and roads crossing some open fields along to the Dying Cow Pub, where we can stop for a refreshing pint or whatever your having.
After we leave here we will follow the Wicklow way north east to the outskirts of the town of Tinahealy.
There is no ascent in this walk and surrounding scenery is incredible.
The walk will last approximately 4 hours and will be taken at a very easy pace, with plenty of stops and photo opportunities along the way.
